Peter Okoye Breaks Silence, Accuses Brothers of Deception Amid Royalty Dispute

Peter Okoye, one-half of the defunct music duo P-Square, has once again spoken out—this time in strong terms—regarding the ongoing royalty and financial dispute involving his brothers, particularly their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye. The artist took to Instagram to voice his frustration and to respond to claims made by a legal representative linked to the case.

In a fiery Instagram post, Peter directly challenged a statement reportedly made to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing it as "full of lies." Without mincing words, he accused the family’s former publicist of attempting to paint him as dishonest in the public eye.

“I will no longer play the bigger person,” Peter stated, referencing the late singer Mohbad’s tragic story as a turning point in his decision to finally speak out. He emphasized that staying silent has only fueled false narratives and allowed manipulation to thrive unchecked.

Peter reaffirmed his identity and integrity, making it clear that he is no longer interested in protecting appearances at the expense of truth. “I know who I am. I stand by the truth, and in due time, everything will come to light,” he declared.

The rift between Peter and his brothers—Paul Okoye, his former bandmate, and Jude Okoye—has been well-documented over the years, with creative differences and financial tensions leading to the eventual breakup of P-Square in 2017. However, this latest dispute centers on unpaid royalties and alleged financial mismanagement, a matter that has now escalated into legal proceedings.

Peter did not hold back in his criticism, subtly accusing his brothers of engaging in wrongdoing that he believes they must eventually answer for. He expressed disappointment over what he described as betrayal and manipulation from within his own family and vowed to pursue justice not only through the courts but also in the court of public opinion.

The case, currently being heard in court, marks a significant development in a long-standing family feud that has played out both behind closed doors and in the public arena. While Peter has typically maintained a composed demeanor over the years, his recent outburst signals a shift—a willingness to fully confront the conflict and speak his truth without restraint.

Many fans have responded with mixed reactions: some applauding Peter’s candor and strength in standing up for himself, while others express sorrow over the continued division in a once-beloved musical family. Yet one thing is clear—Peter Okoye is no longer staying silent.

As legal proceedings continue, the entertainment industry watches closely. For Peter, this is not just about music royalties; it’s about reclaiming his narrative, defending his truth, and holding others accountable—no matter how close they once were.

He wrote: “Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything for me to look like a liar. I am not May D or Cynthia Morgan; I am Peter Okoye, the one and only the rock/okwute of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail.
Una thief Abi Una No Thief.

“After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how the whole thing played out to date, I decided to myself that I would never play the bigger person nor act as the mature one. And that’s exactly what led to this whole madness. Simply because I was trying to be the bigger person and act maturely! Omo! Never again. So, love me or hate me, I will continue speaking my truth.
Una Thief Abi Una No Thief. Family Doesn’t Steal From Family.

“Only to find out that I was actually used in the whole November 2021 reunion! But since we are in court, I will wait for the right time to tell what really went down. Family Doesn’t Steal From Family. Una Thief Abi Una No Thief”.
