Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Kayode Oyekanmi as the new General Manager of Lagos Television (LTV).

The appointment was announced on Thursday and takes immediate effect. Oyekanmi replaces the former General Manager and is expected to bring fresh leadership to the state-owned television station.

Kayode Oyekanmi is a seasoned media professional with many years of experience in broadcasting and media management. He has worked in various capacities within the media industry, both in public and private sectors.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Oyekanmi’s appointment will strengthen LTV and improve the quality of content and service delivery to the people of Lagos State. He urged the new General Manager to focus on repositioning the station as a leading voice in public broadcasting.

LTV is one of Nigeria’s oldest television stations and serves as a key platform for government information, entertainment, and public education in Lagos. The station has faced challenges in recent years with competition from private stations and digital platforms.

This appointment is seen as part of efforts to revitalise the station and make it more relevant to modern audiences. Observers expect Oyekanmi to focus on digital transformation, better programming, and improved operational efficiency.

The new General Manager has thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for the opportunity and promised to work hard to deliver quality content that serves the interest of Lagos residents.

The appointment has generated positive reactions from media stakeholders in the state, who see it as a strategic move to reposition LTV.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
