SENATOR SHARAFADEEN ALLI ANNOUNCES BID FOR OYO GOVERNORSHIP IN 2027
The senator representing Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Alli made the announcement on Friday during an event held in Ibadan, stating that his decision came after wide consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.
“This is not just about ambition; it is about responsibility and service,” he told supporters. “I am committed to the future and prosperity of the people of Oyo State.”
The lawmaker emphasized that his administration, if elected, would prioritize key sectors such as education and security, while also promising to address what he described as shortcomings in the current PDP-led government.
Reflecting on his experience, Alli highlighted his time as Chief of Staff to former governor Rashidi Ladoja, now the Olubadan of Ibadanland, where he played a central role in governance and administration.
He also pointed to his current role in the Senate, noting that his contributions through legislation and advocacy have positively impacted lives across different sectors.
“I have always stood for accountability and service, and I will continue to do so,” he added.
The declaration event drew party members and supporters from across Oyo State, although some notable political figures were absent.
Interestingly, leaders of the APC in the Ibarapa zone had earlier endorsed Alli as their preferred candidate following a meeting held on April 14, signaling growing support within the party ahead of the 2027 race.
With this move, the political landscape in Oyo State is gradually taking shape as aspirants begin to position themselves for the upcoming election.
