Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, is at risk of receiving a four-year ban following allegations of sporting fraud.
Italian authorities have referred the 25-year-old to the disciplinary commission, not for irregular betting, but on suspicion of manipulating the outcome of a match.
Okoye is accused of intentionally earning a yellow card in the 64th minute of Udinese’s Serie A game against Lazio, held at the Dacia Arena on March 11, 2024. He was booked for time-wasting while his team was ahead 2-1.
The Nigerian international is being investigated alongside three of his acquaintances.
Okoye signed with Udinese from Watford during the summer transfer window in 2023.
