Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged greater collaboration among government, private sector, and academia to develop robust policies on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and telecommunications.

Shettima made the call on Friday while opening a national stakeholders’ summit on digital transformation in Abuja.

He stressed the need for Nigeria to proactively engage with emerging technologies to drive economic growth, improve service delivery, and enhance global competitiveness.

“Effective policy formulation requires inclusive dialogue. We must work together to harness AI and telecom advancements while safeguarding our national interests,” Shettima said.

The Vice President highlighted the importance of data protection, infrastructure investment, and skills development in building a future-ready digital economy.

Participants at the summit, including telecom operators, tech firms, and regulators, pledged to contribute expertise towards the formulation of comprehensive national policies on AI and telecommunications.
