Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Guinea-Conakry to attend the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya.

His media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that Shettima will also proceed to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum after the ceremony in Guinea.

The inauguration follows President Doumbouya’s recent election victory and is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry.

According to the statement, Shettima’s presence at the event underscores Nigeria’s commitment to regional leadership, economic cooperation, and global economic integration in line with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

It added that the visit aligns with Nigeria’s leadership role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), particularly in supporting Guinea’s return to constitutional governance after a four-year transition period.

Beyond diplomatic engagement, the trip is also aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations, with Nigerian exports to Guinea—especially manufactured goods and agricultural products—recently rising to $3.29 million.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
