Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday commissioned a newly built banquet hall constructed by the Kaduna State Government, describing the project as a symbol of purposeful leadership and stronger governance institutions.

Speaking during the inauguration in Kaduna, Shettima said the Federal Government would continue supporting the state because of its strategic political and economic importance to Nigeria.

He said Kaduna remains central to national development, which explains the repeated delivery of federal projects and policies to the state in recent months.

“We have returned to Kaduna time and again bearing projects, policies and promises renewed by action, because we understand the place this great state occupies in the anatomy of our nation,” he said.

Shettima added that the government would always stand by Kaduna, noting that “the heartbeat of Nigeria cannot be ignored without the whole body feeling the impact.”

The Vice President praised Governor Uba Sani for combining physical infrastructure with institutional reforms, saying sustainable development depends not only on buildings but on systems that ensure accountability, efficiency, and better public service delivery.

He noted that the banquet hall would support official engagements, conferences, ceremonies, exhibitions, and policy discussions, while also helping position Kaduna as a destination for regional and international events.

According to him, the project reflects leadership that values dignity in public service, protection of vulnerable citizens, and restoration of trust in governance.

Governor Uba Sani said the facility was designed as more than just a building, describing it as a strategic investment in governance and public engagement.

He revealed that the hall occupies 2.7 hectares, with a built-up space of about 5,000 square metres, and can host 1,000 guests in banquet format or 1,300 in theatre style.

Sani said the centre would be used for diplomatic events, conferences, exhibitions, and policy dialogues aimed at attracting partnerships and boosting development.

He added that the project aligns with his administration’s vision of making Kaduna a hub for investment, culture, and international engagement.

Former Governor Ahmed Makarfi praised the speedy completion of the project and urged the state to also honour other past leaders such as Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa.

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo also commended the governor, describing the hall as a major investment in governance and modernization.

Kaduna continues to receive national attention due to its security challenges, industrial relevance, agricultural strength, and strategic location in northern Nigeria.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
