SINGER PORTABLE FACES NINE CRIMINAL CHARGES AS COURT DENIES BAIL
Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was on Monday arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, over a nine-count criminal charge.
The Ogun State Police Command, through its spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the charges include assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting lawful arrest.
The arraignment followed the circulation of a viral video on Sunday showing the singer in police custody, reportedly stemming from a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
According to the prosecution, Portable allegedly assaulted Ashabi alongside several police officers and other individuals at his bar located in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day.
Other persons listed as victims in the charge include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
The singer is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at ₦12 million, said to belong to Ileyemi Damilola and allegedly purchased from Wally Dex Auto.
Investigators further revealed that two siblings of Ashabi Simple appeared in court as witnesses to the alleged assault, although Ashabi herself was not present.
In addition, the police accused Portable of obstructing and assaulting a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding judge denied Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court.
The judge stressed that the officer must be present before any bail application can be considered.
Consequently, Portable was remanded in custody, while the court fixed January 19, 2026, for a fresh bail hearing.
