The Lagos State Government has confirmed the arrest of six men accused of vandalising a government-installed barricade at the busy Obalende Roundabout.

Those arrested were identified as Matthew Yohana, Jinadu Aliyu, Yohanna Adamu, Ayuba James, Umoru John, and Yakubu Ali.

The barricade, which was set up to control traffic and enhance safety at the roundabout, was reportedly destroyed by the suspects before they were caught by state officials.

In a statement released on his official X handle, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, condemned the act and stressed that the government would not tolerate any attempt to undermine public safety.

“All arrested individuals will be prosecuted in line with the relevant extant laws of Lagos State. We will not allow criminality or lawlessness to undermine public safety or the environment in Lagos State,” Wahab said.

The state government has since reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public property, warning that anyone caught vandalising infrastructure meant for the collective good will face the full weight of the law.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
