SMES UNDERPREPARED FOR GROWING CYBERATTACKS – REPORT

A new report has revealed that the majority of Nigerian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) remain critically underprepared to tackle the rising wave of cyberattacks, exposing them to significant financial and operational risks.

Conducted by a leading cybersecurity firm, the study found low adoption of basic security tools, limited staff training, and inadequate incident response plans among SMEs. With digital transformation accelerating, threats such as ransomware and phishing are becoming more sophisticated.

Experts urge SMEs to prioritise cybersecurity awareness, invest in affordable solutions, and seek partnerships with technology providers. The report recommends government incentives to support digital resilience for smaller businesses.
