"SO-SAFE CORPS ARRESTS NOTORIOUS MOTORCYCLE THIEF IN OGUN"
Serial Motorcycle Thief Caught in Ogun While Trying to Sell Stolen Bike
The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested a suspected serial motorcycle thief, Falade Wasiu, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
According to the Corps, Wasiu was caught with a stolen “lady” motorcycle (registration number MUS 398 QP) on his way to Oshodi, Lagos, where he allegedly planned to sell it.
State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement released through spokesperson Moruf Yusuf on Saturday. He explained that the operation followed a complaint from the motorcycle’s owner, prompting the Corps’ surveillance team to intensify patrols in the area.
The suspect was arrested on August 7, 2025, at around 2:30 a.m., with the stolen bike and other items, including a black plastic TVS, three gas lighters, and an MTN SIM card.
During interrogation, Wasiu admitted that he and an accomplice, identified as Wale, had stolen the motorcycle five months earlier by scaling the perimeter fence of the owner’s premises. He also revealed that they hid the bike in an uncompleted building before deciding to move it for sale.
Commander Ganzallo noted that Wasiu confessed to being involved in previous motorcycle thefts and even once escaped from police custody.
The suspect and the recovered items have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Ado-Odo Division, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
