SOLUDO HAILS PUBLIC-PRIVATE-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP, COMMISSIONS 5KM ROAD IN AGUATA
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commissioned a newly constructed five-kilometre road in Ezinifite, Aguata Local Government Area, marking a milestone in community-driven infrastructure development. The road was executed by Chief Anthony Obele, a private individual and indigene of the community, under a Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) framework championed by the Soludo administration.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the road traverses strategic neighbourhoods in Ezinifite, providing residents with improved mobility, stimulating local commerce, and enhancing social interaction. Aburime noted that the project carries special significance, as it is situated within the governor’s home local government area, making the commissioning “deeply symbolic.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Soludo commended Obele for his commitment and dedication to community development. “At the speed at which we need to develop, the government alone cannot do it. Our people are all over the world, excelling and making an impact,” he said. “We celebrate our illustrious sons and daughters who return home to answer the call of development. Once you do this kind of thing, call me, and I will be there to commission it.”
The governor also called on Anambra indigenes, both in the diaspora and at home, to invest in their communities, emphasizing that sustainable development requires collective responsibility. He highlighted that even small-scale initiatives, such as paving a short stretch of road, can produce lasting benefits when executed for the public good rather than personal gain.
“This project sends a clear message to Ndi Anambra everywhere that development is a shared responsibility. The PPCP framework provides a workable blueprint for how private resources, government facilitation, and community cooperation can come together to shape the future of Anambra,” Soludo added.
Chief Anthony Obele, for his part, described the road as an expression of his belief that true leadership is measured by tangible contributions rather than titles. He commended Governor Soludo’s vision for the state, noting that current developmental efforts offer renewed hope for residents and indigenes.
Residents of Ezinifite, including the traditional ruler and the President General of the community, hailed the road as more than a simple infrastructure project, describing it as a symbol of empowerment, bottom-up development, and citizen-led progress. They emphasized that such initiatives demonstrate the transformative potential of collaboration between private citizens, government, and communities.
The commissioning of the road underscores Anambra State’s commitment to innovative infrastructure solutions, leveraging partnerships that ensure faster development while fostering community ownership and active citizen participation.
