SOUTH-WEST APC YOUTH LEADER URGES OYEBANJI TO GIVE MORE ROLES TO YOUNG PEOPLE

The All Progressives Congress South-West Youth Leader, Adesuyi Daramola, has urged Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji to give more consideration to qualified young people when appointing members of his next administration.

Daramola said the governor’s second term provides an opportunity to increase youth participation in governance by creating opportunities for capable young Ekiti indigenes to contribute to the administration.

Oyebanji is scheduled to begin his second term on October 16 following his victory in the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election.

The appeal comes after the governor approved the dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals in the state and ended the appointments of political appointees ahead of his second-term inauguration.

In a statement issued by his Media and Publicity Director, Remilekun Oyelowo, Daramola said appointing qualified young people would help strengthen their sense of inclusion and confidence in the government.

He said young people already possess skills and experience that can contribute to governance and the development of the state, rather than being viewed only as future leaders.

Daramola also commended the outgoing political appointees for their service and contributions, saying the next phase of the administration could combine fresh perspectives with the experience and institutional knowledge of existing personnel.

He further encouraged young people across Ekiti State to develop their skills, knowledge and leadership abilities so they could take advantage of opportunities in public service and governance.

According to him, increased youth participation could also strengthen the relationship between the government and younger residents of the state.
