SPORTING LAGOS CRUSH DOMA UNITED 4-0 TO TAKE CONTROL OF NNL SUPER 4
Sporting Lagos delivered a dominant second-half display to thrash Doma United 4-0 on Wednesday night in Ikenne, moving closer to winning the Nigeria National League Super 4 title.
The match, played under floodlights at Remo Stars Stadium, started cautiously before Sporting gradually took control of proceedings.
Doma United threatened early through winger Mathew Ogenyi, whose low strike inside five minutes was deflected for a corner. Sporting responded in the 15th minute when Seun Akanji missed a clear scoring chance from close range.
Akanji eventually broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, finishing from close range after sustained pressure from the Lagos-based side.
Sporting maintained dominance heading into the break, restricting Doma’s attacking opportunities and taking a deserved 1-0 lead into half-time.
The second half saw the Noisy Lagosians raise the tempo significantly. Shola Oladunjoye doubled the lead three minutes after the restart, capitalising on defensive lapses from Doma United.
Sporting captain Solomon Uloko then took centre stage late in the game, scoring in the 81st minute before adding another superb strike in the 88th minute to complete his brace and seal an emphatic victory.
The result means Sporting Lagos now have maximum points from their opening two Super 4 fixtures after previously defeating Ranchers Bees.
Elsewhere, Inter Lagos boosted their hopes with a 2-0 win over Ranchers Bees, who remain bottom of the standings without a point.
Sporting Lagos now need only a draw against Inter Lagos in their final fixture on Friday to secure the Super 4 title, while Inter Lagos must win convincingly and hope other results go in their favour.
