In a major step toward easing financial burdens for students, the Nigerian government has officially opened applications for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), offering interest-free loans to students in public tertiary institutions nationwide.

The initiative, backed by the Tinubu administration, is designed to democratize access to higher education and ensure no Nigerian student is denied schooling due to financial constraints. The NELFUND student loan covers tuition and could include monthly upkeep, depending on institutional and personal needs.

Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must be Nigerian citizens, at least 18 years old, and already admitted into an approved public tertiary institution. Applicants also need a valid National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), and must maintain a minimum academic standing as set by the fund.

Required Documents:
Students are expected to present their JAMB registration number, admission letter, student ID or matric number, and details of tuition fees.

How to Apply:

1. Visit nelf.gov.ng

2. Click “Apply Now” and register with a valid email and phone number

3. Complete the form and upload required documents

4. Submit the application and wait for verification
