Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has urged President Bola Tinubu to stop showing leniency toward terrorists and granting them pardons.

His call came after the United States conducted a military strike on terrorist groups in Northern Nigeria on Christmas Day.

The operation, authorized by former US President Donald Trump, targeted ISIS-affiliated militants active in Nigeria. Trump described the mission as a decisive action to halt the killing of Christians in Northern Nigeria and prevent further widespread violence.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that US forces had hit ISIS camps in Northwest Nigeria and condemned the group for years of murdering innocent civilians. He emphasized that, under his leadership, the United States would not allow extremist Islamic groups to thrive.

Reacting to the strike, Adeyanju praised Trump’s action and called on the Nigerian government, including President Tinubu, to end the practice of shielding terrorists or holding events to forgive them. He stressed that Nigeria must take firm action immediately.

Posting on X, Adeyanju wrote: “All hail President Donald Trump. Dear Nigerian government & @officialABAT, the time to stop pampering terrorists and organizing forgiveness ceremonies for them is now.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
