SUPER EAGLES FORWARD, MOFFI ASSAULTED BY NICE FANS AFTER TEAM’S DEFEAT
Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi was among the Nice players attacked by their own supporters following a 3-1 loss to Lorient.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday night as the team returned from the match.
Around 400 Ultras were waiting at the club’s training ground and confronted the players as they disembarked from the bus.
Moffi, who suffered hair-pulling and kicks, has been placed on one week of sick leave, while teammate Jeremie Boga is sidelined for five days.
Both players visited the local police on Monday to file complaints against the alleged attackers.
In a statement, Nice condemned the incident, saying, “The excesses witnessed during this gathering are unacceptable, and we strongly denounce such acts.”
The defeat in Brittany marked Nice’s sixth consecutive loss across all competitions.
