Nigeria’s Super Falcons have risen one place to 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, maintaining their position as Africa’s highest-ranked women’s national team.

The ranking, released on Tuesday, shows the team moving up from 37th place in the December 2025 standings.

The improvement reflects the Falcons’ recent pre-WAFCON friendly matches against Cameroon, where they lost the first encounter 1–0 in February 2026 before bouncing back with a 3–1 victory in March.

In the second match, Nigeria responded strongly, with Chinwendu Ihezuo equalising in the 32nd minute from a cross by Rinsola Babajide. Babajide later scored to give the Falcons a 2–1 lead before halftime, while Michelle Alozie sealed the 3–1 win in the 64th minute with a header from captain Rasheedat Ajibade’s delivery.

The results earned the team 3.35 ranking points, bringing their total to 1602 in April 2026, though still slightly below the 1607 points recorded in December 2025.

In Africa, South Africa remains second on the continent in 58th place globally, followed by Ghana in 59th and Morocco in 62nd.

On the global stage, Spain retains the number one position, ahead of the United States, England, Germany, and Japan.
