The Taraba State Government has delivered emergency supplies to residents of Binnari community following a deadly bandit attack that displaced families and destroyed property.

Governor Agbu Kefas directed the intervention to provide immediate assistance to survivors of Friday’s attack in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.

A delegation led by the Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Audu Echuseh, visited the community on Saturday to distribute supplies and assess the damage.

The relief materials included food grains, mattresses, blankets and other essential household items.

Conveying the governor’s condolences, Echuseh said the visit was intended to support grieving families and ensure that affected residents received assistance.

The agency described the distribution as the first phase of its response, adding that further humanitarian support would accompany efforts to restore security.

State lawmakers Anas Shuaibu Didango and Abner Shittu joined the delegation, alongside council officials, traditional rulers and community representatives.

The lawmakers welcomed the intervention and pledged cooperation with security personnel working to prevent further attacks.

The death toll remains disputed. Police initially reported 10 deaths, while residents said more than 40 people were killed.

Survivors are now facing the immediate task of finding food, shelter and safety as the community begins to recover.
