TARABA LAUNCHES STATEWIDE YOUTH DATABASE FOR BETTER PLANNING
The Taraba State Government has launched a comprehensive youth database aimed at improving planning, policy formulation, and service delivery for young people across the state.
The initiative, introduced through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, is designed to capture detailed information about youths in all 16 local government areas. Officials say the database will help the government better understand the needs, skills, and challenges facing young people in the state.
Speaking during the unveiling, state officials explained that the platform would serve as a central system for collecting and managing data on youth demographics, education, employment status, and entrepreneurial activities. According to them, the information will guide government programmes targeted at youth empowerment and development.
They noted that the absence of reliable data has often made it difficult to design effective policies for young people. With the new system in place, the government hopes to make more informed decisions and ensure that youth-focused initiatives reach the right beneficiaries.
The database is also expected to support the implementation of training programmes, job creation schemes, and startup support initiatives. Authorities added that it would make it easier to connect qualified youths with opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
Youth groups and community leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a step toward more inclusive governance and better engagement with young people.
The government urged youths across the state to participate in the registration process when it begins, emphasizing that accurate data will play a crucial role in shaping future policies and development strategies for Taraba’s growing youth population.
