Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Task Force have arrested seven suspected robbers allegedly operating on top of the Bolade Bridge in Oshodi, following actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance.

The arrest was disclosed on Monday in a post on X by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.

Those arrested were identified as Samuel Olumide, 19; Quadri Oladipupo, 21; Ojo Ifabomi, 23; Tunde Balogun, 24; Dayo Badmus, 21; Adegunlola Tayo, 20; and Simon Michael, 21.

Commenting on the operation, Wahab said the suspects were apprehended earlier in the day after security operatives acted on credible intelligence and closely monitored their activities around the bridge.

“Earlier today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Task Force apprehended seven suspected robbers operating on top of the Bolade Bridge, Oshodi, following actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance,” he said.

He explained that the arrest was part of the state government’s ongoing security and environmental enforcement drive aimed at restoring order and safety in public spaces.

“This arrest is part of our ongoing effort to reclaim public spaces, protect commuters, and dismantle criminal activities that thrive around critical transport corridors,” Wahab stated.

The commissioner stressed that public infrastructure must not be surrendered to criminal elements, noting that bridges, highways, and pedestrian routes are meant to be safe for law-abiding residents.

According to him, the suspects are currently in custody and will be processed in accordance with extant laws.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
