TCN ANNOUNCES SIX-HOUR POWER OUTAGE IN PARTS OF OGUN STATE

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour power outage in several communities in Ogun State.

The outage is scheduled for today and will affect electricity supply from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. TCN said the interruption is necessary to carry out urgent maintenance work on some transmission equipment in the area.

Affected areas include parts of Abeokuta and surrounding communities. Residents have been advised to prepare for the temporary disruption by charging their devices and making alternative arrangements for power during the period.

According to TCN, the maintenance is aimed at improving the stability and reliability of power supply in the Ogun region. The company apologised for the inconvenience and assured residents that work would be completed within the stated time so that power can be restored as scheduled.

Power outages for maintenance are common in Nigeria as the Transmission Company works to upgrade old infrastructure and fix faults in the national grid. However, many residents still find frequent disruptions frustrating, especially during the hot season when electricity demand is high.

TCN urged customers in the affected areas to stay updated through official channels and to cooperate with the exercise for long-term improvement in power supply.

This latest outage announcement adds to ongoing efforts by electricity authorities to strengthen the transmission network across different parts of the country.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
