TCN PROMISES RESTORATION OF FULL POWER SUPPLY TO KEBBI BY JUNE 19

Electricity supply in Kebbi State is expected to return to normal by Thursday, June 19, 2025, according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The state has experienced nearly two months of blackout following the collapse of key transmission towers on the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV line.

The situation deteriorated further after two additional towers collapsed in Galadima Village, Shanga Local Government Area, due to a windstorm, deepening the power crisis across the state.

To manage the shortfall, a limited supply of electricity was temporarily rerouted from the Shiroro Power Station in Niger State to support parts of Kebbi.

However, many residents and businesses have continued to rely heavily on alternative sources of power, such as generators and solar panels.

In a recent update, the TCN disclosed that reconstruction of the damaged towers is now in its final stage, with contractors working around the clock to meet the June 19 deadline.

Once completed, the state will be reconnected to the national grid via the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi line, restoring stable electricity to homes, businesses, and essential services—particularly as power demand rises during the rainy season.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
