Tems Makes History as First African Female Co-Owner of San Diego FC
Nigerian Grammy-winning singer and producer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has etched her name in the history books as the first African female to become part of the ownership group of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) San Diego Football Club.
The American club announced the groundbreaking partnership on Wednesday, February 12, revealing that Tems, through her company, The Leading Vibe, has officially joined as a strategic partner.
Tems’ latest venture into sports ownership adds to her growing influence beyond music. In 2021, she collaborated with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm that played a key role in NBA Africa’s strategic investment group.
Her move into MLS ownership signifies a major step in bridging African excellence with global sports, further cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in multiple industries.
