There was tension in Abuja after a Chinese employee of ASBA Mining Company Group tragically died following a sudden collapse at a quarry site in Wasa village, located on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to police reports, the incident was first reported on Monday by a staff member, Mohammed Abdulkareem, who informed officers at the Kabusa Division that the victim, 53-year-old Cao Chunri, collapsed within the company premises around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

He was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, but doctors later confirmed him dead.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that investigators visited the hospital to document the remains and also inspected the quarry site as part of preliminary investigations.

The body has since been deposited at the FMC Jabi mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has launched a full probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the worker’s sudden collapse and death.

The incident has sparked concern among workers and residents, with many hoping the investigation will uncover what truly happened at the quarry.
