TERRORISTS ABDUCT 10 IN OGUN, DEMAND 25M RANSOM
Tension has reportedly gripped parts of Ogun State following the abduction of 10 people by suspected terrorists, who have allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦25 million for their release.
The incident has renewed concerns about insecurity in the state, particularly the threat posed by armed groups targeting residents and communities for ransom.
The victims are said to have been taken away by the attackers, leaving their families and relatives worried about their safety. The reported ransom demand has added to the distress of those affected, as they await information about the whereabouts and condition of their loved ones.
Kidnapping for ransom remains a major security challenge in several parts of Nigeria. Such attacks often expose residents to fear, financial hardship and uncertainty, while placing additional pressure on security agencies to rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice.
The latest incident is expected to raise fresh questions about security arrangements in the affected area and the measures being taken to prevent further attacks.
Residents will be looking to security authorities for an effective response, including efforts to locate the abducted persons, secure their release and identify those responsible.
The incident also highlights the need for stronger intelligence gathering, improved community surveillance and closer cooperation between residents and security agencies.
As concerns grow over the reported abduction, the immediate priority remains the safe return of the 10 victims and the prevention of further attacks on vulnerable communities.
