“THEY BOOED ME AND THREW BOTTLES BUT I KEPT GOING” – TEMS
R&B sensation Temilade Openiyi has shared the challenges she faced in the early days of her music career, revealing that she was once booed off stage while performing at a school event.
In an interview with Big Boy TV, the Crazy Tings singer recounted that the audience not only booed her but also hurled plastic bottles during her performance.
“I remember performing at my school as an aspiring singer, thinking I would receive a standing ovation. But instead, I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.
Tems emphasized that despite the humiliating incident and other early setbacks, she stayed committed to pursuing a career in music. She noted that some of the initial rejections may have stemmed from her determination to stay true to her unique style rather than performing covers or familiar tunes like many of her peers.
Reflecting on her journey, the Grammy-winning artist said she is grateful for holding onto her originality despite the early pressures.
