THIS SCREENSHOT PROVES THERE IS CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE IN NIGERIA — REV. FATHER KELVIN UGWU
Catholic missionary priest Rev. Father Kelvin Ugwu has stirred public debate after asserting that a viral screenshot shared on social media is clear evidence of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
The priest made the statement while reacting to a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which a Muslim user praised another Muslim, Abdullahi Abubakar, for saving Christians from an attack by Islamic terrorists.
Taking to his Facebook page, Father Ugwu described the viral screenshot as one that “deserves the award for Screenshot of the Year,” saying it exposes the reality of religiously targeted killings in the country.
“It carries every shade of evidence and irony,” he wrote, before breaking down his analysis of the post.
According to him:
“It highlights the foolishness of the person called Hafsat. Only a foolish person nails himself publicly without realizing it. Those who have turned this whole discussion into Muslims vs Christians fight — instead of calling it what it is, a fight against Islamic terrorists — sound exactly like Hafsat. Their arguments only validate what Trump said, yet they are too blind to see it.”
He further argued that while Abdullahi Abubakar should be praised for his heroic act, the same story reveals a disturbing truth about the safety of Christians in some communities:
“In a village of 300 Christians, no Muslim needed to be hidden from the bandits — not even the Imam himself. There is a mosque in that same village, yet only Christians were at risk. If that does not spell genocide, then what does?”
Father Ugwu’s post comes amid intense global debate over former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks accusing Nigeria of failing to protect Christian communities from extremist attacks — comments that have drawn both condemnation and support across political and religious lines.
