Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to rally behind individuals living with autism, calling for an end to stigma and the creation of a more inclusive society.

Speaking on World Autism Awareness Day, Tinubu emphasized the need for stronger policies in education, healthcare, and employment to ensure that autistic individuals receive the support they deserve.

🔹 “Autism is not a disability; it is a different ability. We must build a nation where everyone, regardless of their neurological differences, can contribute and thrive,” he stated.

From Awareness to Action

Despite increased awareness, many autistic individuals in Nigeria still face barriers to education, healthcare, and job opportunities. Families often struggle with limited access to therapy and professional support, while stigma continues to hinder progress.

Advocacy groups are calling for:
Stronger legislation to protect the rights of neurodivergent individuals
Government-backed therapy and support programs
Inclusive education policies to integrate autistic individuals into mainstream learning

What’s Next?

Tinubu’s statement has sparked renewed hope, but will it lead to real change? With autism advocacy groups pushing for concrete action, all eyes are on the government to turn promises into policies.

As World Autism Awareness Month continues, the focus now shifts from words to implementation—because awareness is just the first step.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
