TINUBU CELEBRATES RESCUE OF ABDUCTED STUDENTS AND WORSHIPPERS, ASSURES NIGERIANS OF SAFETY
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded Nigeria’s security agencies following the rescue of dozens of abducted citizens in Niger and Kwara states.
In a statement released on Sunday, the President expressed joy over the safe return of 51 Catholic school students kidnapped in Niger State, as well as the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State.
Tinubu revealed that he cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to personally oversee security coordination and ensure swift action.
“You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me to coordinate the security efforts at home,” he said.
He noted that recent rescue operations highlight the dedication and resilience of Nigeria’s armed forces and intelligence agencies. According to him, the federal government is closely monitoring the security situation and receiving continuous field updates.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to protecting citizens across the country, stressing that safety remains a non-negotiable national priority.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he assured.
