TINUBU COMMISSIONS FCT ROAD, PROMISES FAIR DEVELOPMENT ACROSS NIGERIA
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his government will continue to deliver infrastructure projects fairly across the country, especially in underserved rural areas.
Speaking on Monday, June 23, 2025, during the commissioning of the newly completed 15-kilometre A2 – Pai Town Road in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to balanced and inclusive development.
“This administration will continue to prioritize infrastructure in all zones,” Tinubu said. “We will ensure that development is not lopsided, but balanced, inclusive, and targeted at lifting lives.”
The commissioned road connects the Abuja–Lokoja Expressway to Pai Town and is part of a larger project that has seen 150 kilometers of rural roads constructed across the six FCT area councils since Tinubu took office in May 2023.
According to the President, infrastructure only has real value when it improves lives, opens economic opportunities, and boosts local productivity. He highlighted the road’s importance in connecting farmers, students, and traders to the rest of the FCT and beyond.
“Rural communities like Pai contribute significantly to food production and local enterprise. For too long, they’ve been neglected. This road is a symbol of change and progress,” he stated.
Tinubu praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for pushing rural development and urged residents to take ownership of the road and other infrastructure provided.
Wike, in his remarks, thanked the President for visiting Pai and confirmed that all six newly constructed roads under his watch have been completed and commissioned. He explained that the road from Pai to Gomani (13km) is also under construction and will be completed by December, with another 13km stretch from Gomani to Yangoji set to begin soon—totaling about 45km of connected roads in that axis alone.
The FCT Minister also outlined other recently completed roads including:
Paikon Kore–Ibwa Road (9km)
Aguma Palace–Radio–New Market Road (10km)
Nyanya–Karshi dual carriageway (18km)
Old Ushafa Road (7.4km)
Rehabilitation of Lower Usuma Dam Road
Wike highlighted the improved access to remote communities and security benefits, noting that many of these roads were previously impassable.
In closing, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of harmony between farmers and livestock owners, calling for collaboration rather than conflict. He assured Pai residents of continued government support to turn rural challenges into opportunities for prosperity.
The road projects form part of the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at creating a more inclusive and economically active Nigeria from the grassroots up.
