TINUBU CONGRATULATES BENIN REPUBLIC PRESIDENT-ELECT WADAGNI
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Romuald Wadagni on his election as President of the Republic of Benin, describing his victory as a reflection of public trust in his leadership and record in public service.
Wadagni, who currently serves as Benin’s Minister of Finance, won the presidential election held on April 12, 2026, securing a decisive majority.
In a personally signed letter, Tinubu commended the people of the Republic of Benin for conducting a peaceful and credible election, noting the importance of democratic stability in the sub-region.
He highlighted the longstanding friendship between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, stressing that both countries share strong cultural, economic, and security ties.
Tinubu also pledged Nigeria’s continued cooperation with the incoming administration, particularly in areas of regional security, trade, and economic development within ECOWAS.
He assured Wadagni of Nigeria’s support as he prepares to assume office, expressing optimism about stronger bilateral relations between both nations.
