President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios after their film Black Market set a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.
The record was achieved on September 26, 2026, during a screening of the movie in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition.
The President described the achievement as another indication of the talent within Nigeria’s growing creative industry.
Tinubu also linked the record to the wider development of Nigeria’s creative economy, saying the sector continues to create opportunities, businesses and jobs while promoting Nigerian culture to audiences around the world.
He said the success of Black Market demonstrated what Nigerian creatives could achieve when creativity is combined with enterprise and large-scale execution.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to turn their talents into sustainable livelihoods and globally competitive businesses.
Tinubu also commended everyone involved in the production and screening of Black Market and wished the filmmakers further success.
