Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has lost the confidence of many Nigerians, particularly in the North and Southeast, where he claims the president has a 91 percent disapproval rating.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday evening, El-Rufai, a prominent figure in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), criticized the president’s performance over the past two years.

According to him, Tinubu's government has underperformed in key areas such as national security, the economy, and trade.

He said:
“We need to ask ourselves if things have really improved since President Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023. If your life has gotten better, that’s fine. But if not, maybe it’s time to consider giving someone else a chance.”

El-Rufai revealed that internal polling carried out by his team showed that Tinubu’s popularity has significantly declined.
“In the North and Southeast, his disapproval rating is 91%. Even in Lagos, he stands at 78%. In parts of the Southwest like Ondo and Ekiti, he’s doing slightly better, but still has a disapproval rating above 50%,” he said.

“The truth is, things are not working. The economy is stagnant, insecurity remains a major concern, and there are no clear policies to drive trade and investment,” he added.
“They claim to be generating revenue, but we can’t see the impact—there are no visible results.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
