TINUBU MULLS VISA-FREE ENTRY FOR RWANDANS IN MAJOR AFRICA TRAVEL SHIFT
President Bola Tinubu is considering a visa-free entry policy for citizens of Rwanda in what could mark a major shift in Africa’s regional travel and integration efforts.
The proposed move is part of broader discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Rwanda, while also promoting easier movement across the continent under the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
If approved, Rwandan citizens would be able to enter Nigeria without a visa, making travel easier for business owners, tourists, investors, and professionals between both countries.
The development comes as several African nations continue to push for relaxed border policies to improve trade, tourism, and regional cooperation. Rwanda has already positioned itself as one of Africa’s leading advocates for open travel policies within the continent.
Although the Nigerian government has not officially announced when the policy could take effect, discussions around the proposal signal a growing interest in deeper African integration and mobility.
Analysts say the move could improve bilateral relations, increase commercial activities, and encourage stronger partnerships between both nations.
