TINUBU OVERHAULS FEDERAL CHARACTER COMMISSION, APPOINTS OMIDIRAN AS CHAIR, 34 COMMISSIONERS, AND NEW DG IN SWEEPING LEADERSHIP RESHUFFLE
In one of the most extensive leadership shake-ups since taking office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former House of Representatives member Ayo Hulayat Omidiran as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), replacing Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was marred by controversy.
The late-night announcement, issued by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga, unveiled a roster of 34 commissioners drawn from all states and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Musa as Secretary and the retention of Mr. Kayode Oladele from Ogun State, who briefly served as Acting Chairman.
The reshuffle also features renewed terms for seasoned commissioners like Mr. Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa), Mr. Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi), and Mr. Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun), while introducing new faces such as Obina Oriaku (Abia), Mrs. Bema Olvadi Madayi (Adamawa), and Sir Tonye Okio (Bayelsa) among others.
Beyond the FCC, Tinubu tapped Ms. Rinsola Abiola as Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), and appointed Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji as Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership, underscoring his administration’s renewed focus on diversity, leadership development, and youth inclusion in governance.
