President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s security personnel for their sacrifices and commitment in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the country.

In a message shared on his X account on Monday, Tinubu described members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies as the nation’s shield against criminal elements threatening peace and stability.

“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities,” the president stated.

Tinubu acknowledged the difficult conditions under which troops and security operatives serve, noting that many operate in forests, creeks, highways, and dangerous terrains to protect Nigerians.

“This fight has not been easy. It has come with pain, pressure, and sacrifice. But your courage has remained firm,” he said.

The president extended appreciation to personnel of the military, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intelligence agencies, and local security formations.

He also recognised the sacrifices made by families of security personnel, especially during long deployments and periods of uncertainty.

“I also acknowledge the families behind the uniform. Many of you have endured long absences, anxious nights, and the emotional cost of duty,” Tinubu added.

The president paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifices as vital to the survival of the nation.

“We honour those who have paid the supreme price in defence of our country,” he said.

Tinubu further urged Nigerians to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and sharing useful information.

“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information,” he stated.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, Tinubu declared that Nigeria would not surrender to fear or violent extremism.

“Nigeria will not surrender to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define who we are as a people,” he said.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
