TINUBU TREKS TO OFFICE, EATS ONCE DAILY — NRS BOSS

The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, has dismissed concerns over the alleged lavish lifestyles of public officials, insisting that President Bola Tinubu does not live extravagantly despite his position.

Adedeji made the claim during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday while responding to questions about the lifestyle of political office holders amid Nigeria’s rising cost of living and economic challenges.

According to him, Tinubu usually walks from his residence to his office and only uses a vehicle when travelling to the airport.

He also claimed that the President eats only once a day and had not travelled outside Nigeria in the past three months.

Addressing reports about the number of luxury vehicles, particularly Escalades, attached to the President’s convoy, Adedeji questioned why the President should not be able to afford such vehicles.

He said, “Mr President goes from home to office on foot, not even driving except when he is going to the airport. I don’t know where you see the convoy.”

Adedeji also argued that Tinubu’s activities do not reflect a lavish lifestyle, noting that the President spends much of his time working and reviewing official documents.

He said, “In the last months, he has not even left the shores of this country, trekking and working. If you go there now, you will see him review one document or the other.”

The NRS boss further claimed that Tinubu rarely attends social events, asking how many parties or holidays Nigerians had seen the President attend since assuming office.

His comments come amid ongoing public debate over government spending, the lifestyles of political leaders and the economic difficulties facing Nigerians.
