President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful amid ongoing economic reforms, assuring that the most challenging period of his administration’s transformation agenda is now in the past.

In a message to commemorate the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration on Thursday, the President acknowledged the hardships faced by citizens but emphasized that the reforms were beginning to yield tangible progress.

"We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope," Tinubu said. "Let us hold on to our faith and persevere. Our reforms are gaining traction, with key economic indicators now moving in a positive direction. Soon, all will feel the benefits."

He stressed that the reforms are aimed not just at improving economic statistics but at fundamentally reshaping Nigeria’s economy to ensure long-term, sustainable growth.

“There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all,” the President said. “Our administration will continue acting in the nation’s best interest, ensuring that the gains we are recording translate into improving people’s lives.”

Tinubu also called on citizens to remember and pray for Nigeria’s armed forces and security personnel, who he praised for their continued sacrifices to keep the nation safe.

“As we observe this Eid, let us continue our prayers for our front-line officers, who risk their lives for our safety and security,” he urged. “Let us pray for our leaders at all levels and our country. Let us pray for peace in our tumultuous world of troubles and uncertainties.”

Reflecting on the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to embrace the festival’s core values of sacrifice, selflessness, and compassion, drawing on the example of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion.

“Eid reminds us of our responsibilities beyond faith: to show resilience, tolerance, compassion, and dedication to the progress of our beloved country,” he added.

The President’s remarks come amid ongoing debate over the impact of his administration’s economic policies, which include the removal of fuel subsidies and foreign exchange reforms that have caused short-term economic strain for many Nigerians.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
