TINUBU VISITS NASARAWA TO COMMISSION GOVERNOR SULE’S LANDMARK PROJECTS
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to visit Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, on Wednesday to commission several major projects executed by Governor Abdullahi Sule's administration.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Lafia, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Tanko Ibrahim, confirmed that preparations for the President’s visit have been finalized.
Dr. Tanko explained that President Tinubu will be received at the Usman Danfodio Airport before proceeding to commission the newly constructed underpass and overhead bridge in Lafia. He will also pay a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia, retired Justice Sidi Bage, at his palace.
The President is expected to commission additional projects including a fleet of tractors, the Shendam dual carriageway, and the newly completed ultra-modern state secretariat along Shendam Road.
The visit will conclude with a town hall meeting involving key stakeholders at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, located within the Government House premises.
According to Dr. Tanko, all the legacy projects to be inaugurated were fully funded by the Governor Sule-led administration without external borrowing. He also called on residents to turn out in large numbers to warmly welcome President Tinubu.
In anticipation of the visit, the Nasarawa State Police Command announced traffic diversions and partial movement restrictions in Lafia from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, said vehicles entering Lafia from the Akwanga axis will be rerouted at Mechanic Village, Azuba, through the bypass at Akurba and Mararaba Akunza, then connected to Makurdi Road. Likewise, traffic from Makurdi will be diverted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.
The CP assured the public that adequate security arrangements have been put in place along alternative routes. He urged residents to cooperate, noting that the temporary changes are aimed at ensuring a smooth and secure visit by the President.
