Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as worse than any military regime in Nigeria’s history.

El-Rufai made the remarks over the weekend while hosting former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Kaduna. The visit came after thugs stormed and disrupted the inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, sparking a war of words between El-Rufai and the Kaduna State government.

According to El-Rufai, Tinubu’s government is undermining democracy and centralizing power instead of promoting federalism.

“Honestly, it is a disgrace. All the years of saying we were for democracy and federalism were just pretense. This government is worse than any military regime,” he said.

El-Rufai further warned that unless Nigerians unite to end the Tinubu administration in 2027, the president could attempt to extend his rule, comparing him to Cameroon’s long-serving leader, Paul Biya.
