The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that he and the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, have settled their political differences. “We’ve all agreed to work together,” Wike said.

He made this known on Thursday night after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also present were Governor Fubara and members of the suspended Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

According to Tribune Online, President Tinubu had, on March 18, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended the governor, his deputy, and the lawmakers for six months due to ongoing political unrest.

Standing alongside Fubara and Amaewhule, Wike confirmed that the crisis has been resolved.

“We are from the same political family. Disagreements happen, but we’ve settled them. There’s no more conflict. It’s all in the past, and we thank God for that,” Wike said.

Governor Fubara also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his intervention and stressed the importance of maintaining peace in the state.

“This is a significant day for Rivers. What we need now is peace, and we will do all we can to keep it,” Fubara assured.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
