TINUBU’S POLICIES REDUCING BRAIN DRAIN, IMPROVING HEALTHCARE – MINISTER
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has stated that the policies and reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu are gradually addressing Nigeria’s long-standing issue of brain drain while also strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
Idris made these remarks on Friday in Abuja during the fourth attestation ceremony for the 2025 MBBS graduating class of Nile University of Nigeria. He highlighted that the newly inducted medical doctors will play a crucial role in delivering the quality healthcare the President envisions for all Nigerians.
Expressing pride in the graduating students, the minister urged them to align with the administration’s healthcare vision, particularly in enhancing service delivery and promoting medical industrialization.
He noted that reforms in the health sector are already producing positive outcomes, with some medical professionals who had previously left the country now returning due to improved policies and investments in healthcare infrastructure.
According to the minister, the government’s increased funding for primary healthcare centers and its efforts to enhance medical industrialization are making Nigeria more competitive on a global scale.
He also emphasized the President’s recent initiatives, including the launch of six oncology centers nationwide and the rehabilitation of tertiary healthcare facilities.
Idris added that these interventions are helping to reduce the need for Nigerians to seek medical treatment abroad, especially for serious illnesses such as cancer, as these services are becoming more accessible and affordable locally.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the minister’s daughter, Rukaya Idris, was among the over 50 medical graduates who participated in the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Rukaya expressed her commitment to becoming a compassionate doctor and contributing positively to the improvement of Nigeria’s healthcare system.
