Ivan Toney, forward for Al-Ahli, has thrown a jab at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr following their Saudi Super Cup victory at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday.
Toney played a role as Al-Ahli secured a 5-3 win in a penalty shootout after the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
The build-up to the clash was surrounded by controversy, with Toney accusing Saudi league officials of unfair treatment toward Al-Ahli.
Speaking after the match, Toney said through Al Nassr Zone:
“It shows the heart we have — we stick together, and this is what happens. They tried everything, changed the referee, but it didn’t matter.”
Cristiano Ronaldo, Franck Kessié, Marcelo Brozović, and Roger Ibañez all found the net during the encounter.
