A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Abuja on Wednesday when a man, his wife, and their young son lost their lives after their car crashed during a violent encounter with touts, popularly known as “Agberos.”

Eyewitnesses said the family had just purchased a new refrigerator and was driving a Toyota Highlander through the Berger area when three touts began pursuing them. The hoodlums reportedly forced their way into the SUV and attempted to seize the steering wheel from the driver.

“In the process of struggling for control, the car rammed into a pillar under the bridge before plunging into the drainage,” one witness recounted.

The crash killed all three family members instantly. The collision also damaged a green Abuja taxi that was parked nearby.

Angered by the tragedy, onlookers turned on the touts. One was lynched on the spot, while police officers from the Mabushi Division arrived quickly to rescue the other two, who were seriously injured. They were later taken to the National Hospital for treatment. Security agents also removed the body of the lynched suspect from the scene.

The tragic deaths have sparked outrage in the community, with many residents calling for stricter action against touts whose violent activities continue to endanger lives in Abuja.
