TRAGEDY IN IBADAN: RECKLESS DRIVING CLAIMS TWO LIVES, INJURES ONE
Residents of Ojoo-Iwo Road in Ibadan were left in shock last Wednesday after a tragic road accident claimed two young lives and left another person badly injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened around noon when a 59-year-old driver, whose name has been withheld, reportedly lost control of his Lexus and ran over three pedestrians walking along the road. Sadly, two victims, a man and a woman in their twenties, died instantly, while the third person sustained a serious fracture and is now receiving treatment at a local hospital.
“The victims were just trekking when it happened. It was so sudden,” said Suraju Oguntoye, one of the witnesses. Another witness, Chris Ogbonnaya, described the driver’s actions as “dangerous and reckless.”
The case has been reported to the police at Testing Ground, and authorities confirmed that the suspect has already been charged in court.
Police spokesperson Adewale Osifeso confirmed the details, noting that updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
