TRAGEDY IN LAGOS: EFCC OPERATIVE FOUND DEAD BY ROADSIDE, INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
Remedy Yange, an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benue State, has been found dead on a street in Lagos, sparking widespread concern and investigations.
A video making rounds on social media shows Yange’s lifeless body by the roadside, as passersby attempt to identify him. His identity card, discovered in a bag next to his body, revealed his name and his affiliation with the EFCC.
Sources indicate that Yange was on leave from work and had traveled to Lagos to spend time with his family.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, confirmed the tragic development, stating that “an investigation is ongoing” to determine the circumstances surrounding Yange’s death.
This incident marks the second report of an EFCC operative’s death in recent weeks. On January 19, Aminu Salisu, an assistant superintendent officer, was reportedly killed in Anambra during an operation.
According to Oyewale, Salisu was fatally attacked by Joshua Ikechukwu, a suspected internet fraudster, who resisted arrest after spotting investigators via CCTV cameras at his residence. Preliminary findings revealed that Ikechukwu was involved in coding and dubious online medical supply activities.
The EFCC has assured the public that thorough investigations will be conducted to bring clarity and justice in these cases.
