Shooting Stars Assistant Coach Akin Olowokere Passes Away After Collapsing in Training

The Nigerian football community has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Akin Olowokere, assistant coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

Olowokere, who only recently joined the Oluyole Warriors’ technical crew, collapsed on Monday morning during a training session at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode. The team was preparing for their Matchday 2 fixture in the ongoing ValueJet Cup 2025.

Witnesses say the former Sunshine Stars player and coach went down unexpectedly while actively involved in the session. Medical staff rushed to attend to him on the pitch before he was taken to a nearby hospital. Sadly, efforts to save him were unsuccessful.

Olowokere was part of the newly appointed coaching team brought in after 3SC parted ways with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led crew. His sudden death has left players, staff, and fans in shock.

The 3SC management and the wider Nigerian football fraternity have been paying tribute to the late coach, remembering him for his passion, dedication, and deep knowledge of the game.

His passing is yet another reminder of the need for regular health checks and swift medical readiness in sports.
