TRAILER CRUSHES HEELYS RIDER TO DEATH IN PLATEAU
A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday night in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, when a trailer loaded with cement crushed a teenage Heelys rider near Terminus Market.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened around 9:30 pm on Murtala Muhammed Way. The victim, who was holding onto the moving trailer, was struck by the truck’s tire, thrown down, and immediately run over, dying instantly.
Musa Audu, an eyewitness, said, “The tire of the truck hit him, threw him down, and immediately the truck ran over him, killing him instantly.”
The accident has sparked concern among residents and market traders, who expressed condolences to the victim’s family.
Mangnan Wamyil, General Manager of Jos Main Market, said authorities would investigate the accident and called for increased safety measures to prevent similar incidents. “I will find out what happened. There is a need to ensure that such an accident does not happen again,” he said.
Nasiru Yahaya, chairman of a section of Terminus Market, confirmed the incident and noted that children riding Heelys often engage in reckless behaviour, especially at night. “This is not the first time
