TRANSFER DEADLINE: SEVILLA TERMINATES KELECHI IHEANACHO’S CONTRACT

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is officially a free agent after Sevilla announced the termination of his contract on transfer deadline day.

The Spanish club confirmed the development in a brief statement on Monday, leaving the 28-year-old forward free to negotiate with other teams even after the transfer window closed.

According to Sky Sports, Iheanacho has already attracted interest from Celtic, who are keen on reuniting him with their manager, Brendan Rodgers. The Nigerian striker previously worked under Rodgers during their time together at Leicester City, where he enjoyed some of the best moments of his career.

Celtic are in the market for a new striker after selling Adam Idah to Swansea City for £6 million. The Scottish champions had also considered signing Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana, but the Ivorian looks set to join Charlton on loan instead.

With his experience in the Premier League and LaLiga, Iheanacho could prove to be a valuable addition to Celtic’s squad as they push for more domestic and European success this season.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
